The Teasley-Holland House

Isaham Asbury Teasley was a large landowner in Hart County who moved to Hartwell after his fortune was made. His home was built in 1881. An article in The Hartwell Sun from 1897 describes him as "one of the largest tax payers in the county."  Teasley dies in 1903, leaving his wife and 4 year old son. They remained in the residence until selling the property after World War I and moving to South Georgia. The purchaser was William Yancy Holland, owner of W.Y. Holland Company, described in The Hartwell Sun as "dealers in pianos, organs, musical instruments, furniture and funeral cases." Married to Mary A. Bradley of Hart County, Holland died in 1925 at his home on Howell Street. His obituary described him as one of Hartwell's first merchants. His wife, a son and a daughter continued to live in the residence following his death. One of his daughters, Gertrude, married E.E. Satterfield and lived in the home next door. Following Mrs. Holland's death, the son and daughter lived in the residence. In 1989, the house was secured by the Hart County Historical Society for the purpose of establishing the Hart County History Museum.
