Lake Hartwell

One of the Southeast's largest lakes, Lake Hartwell covers 56,000 acres at normal pool (660 feet mean sea level) and offers a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities, including swimming, picnicking, camping, fishing and boating along its 962 miles of shore line. Interpretive center is a great stop for kids and families. Enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Hartwell and the Savannah River from atop the dam. Walking along the dam is a favorite local activity for locals and visitors alike. Lake Hartwell is located in the Northeast Georgia Mountains and Upcountry of South Carolina.

If you love to fish, then Lake Hartwell will deliver! With fishing tournaments and a multi-purpose facility, fishing enthusiasts are able to enjoy the experience at Lake Hartwell. Open year round for fishing, the new multi-purpose Gum Branch Recreation and Tournament Facility will provide greater access to the large supply of Bream, Crappie, Bass and Catfish.

Offering over 80 public boat launches, park areas and recreation, there is always something happening at Lake Hartwell. Enjoy fishing, boating, water skiing or a nice day out at the lake for a family outing or community event.
