    TAGS FOR MY CAR—Tags can be purchased at the Tax Commissioner’s Office located at the Hart County Courthouse, which is in downtown Hartwell on the Courthouse square. You will need a certificate of title or registration card and proof of insurance. Their hours are Monday – Friday, from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. For more information, call (706) 376-3944.

     

    LICENSE FOR MY CAR--You need to go to one of the following to get your license.

    • Toccoa Dept. of Motor Vehicles (DMV) 62 Doyle St., Toccoa, GA   (706) 282-4821

      Elberton and Toccoa will serve customers Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Each center will be closed every Saturday through Monday.

    New center hours for Athens are Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m.-noon. The Athens center will be closed every Monday.

    If you are applying for a new license or have a previous license from a different state, you will need to bring a certified copy of your birth certificate.  You can also visit the website to renew your license online.
