\n\nThe Porch Songs &\; Public Voices Festival is coming to Downtown Hartwell\, and it is more than a concert &mdash\; it is a full day devoted to the stories\, sounds\, and traditions that made this place what it is. From noon to 10 pm\, the heart of Hartwell becomes a gathering space for voices that deserve to be heard and music that deserves to be felt.
\n\nThe day opens at noon with Native American Storytelling &\; Music at the Hartwell Art Center\, honoring the indigenous voices that were here long before any of us and whose traditions continue to shape this region. At 3 pm\, Mojo on Max: Sticks\, Stones\, Roots &\; Bones takes the stage at High Cotton Music Hall for a presentation that is part concert\, part history lesson &mdash\; tracing the birth of the blues from its deepest roots in a way you will not soon forget. Tickets are limited\, so keep an eye out for those.
\n\nAt 4 pm\, the Lake Hartwell Bluegrass Band brings the mountain home to the Common Ground Patio\, carrying forward the Appalachian traditions that have echoed through these hills for generations. At 6 pm\, Rev. R. Allen Stewart steps up with History of Hart at the Hartwell Art Center &mdash\; an intimate\, personal look at the people and moments that built this county from the ground up. Then at 7:30 pm\, High Cotton Music Hall closes the night with the Blues Jam\, putting local musicians center stage and sending everyone home with something to hum.
\n\nThis is Hart County'\;s story told out loud. It is free\, it is for everyone\, and it is happening right here at home.

\n\nBy the People: Conversations Beyond 250 is a series of community-driven programs created by humanities councils across the United States\, its territories\, and the District of Columbia in collaboration with local partners. Together\, these programs explore 250 years of the nation'\;s cultural life and imagine its shared future. The initiative was developed by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage as a complement to the 2026 Smithsonian Folklife Festival
