• Office & Communications Coordinator

    Office & Communications Coordinator
Hart County Chamber of Commerce | Hartwell, GA
Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–4:00 pm, plus occasional paid evenings/weekends each (typically 2 evenings per month)
    $16/hour | Not benefits-eligible

The Hart County Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Office & Communications Coordinator to run our front office and serve as a key voice for our brand, marketing, and tourism efforts. This person will often be the only one in the office, so we need someone organized, self-directed, and genuinely curious about the local community — someone who takes initiative and feels comfortable deciding what needs attention next.

    Administrative & Financial

    • Serve as front desk and point of contact for members, visitors, and callers
    • Manage calendars, scheduling, and event registration
    • Handle basic bookkeeping: taking payments, sending invoices, applying payments correctly, and preparing QuickBooks deposits
    • Use online project database to track tasks, deadlines, and priorities independently

    Brand & Marketing

    • Create on-brand graphics and social content in Canva — strong, hands-on Canva skills are required, and a short, simple design sample is part of the interview.
    • Write original, engaging social media copy and post consistently using content calendars across multiple accounts and platforms
    • Apply our brand standards (fonts, colors, style) consistently across all materials

    Tourism & Business Information

    • Keep local business and event listings accurate across multiple websites, social platforms, and print materials (travel websites, directories, brochures, visitor guides)
    • Act as a knowledgeable local resource for visitors and callers
    • Research and stay current on community events and business updates

    What We're Looking For

    • Relevant experience in administration, marketing, or office management preferred; an associate's degree or higher in a related field is a plus but not required
    • Strong Canva skills, used independently without AI design tools (required)
    • Marketing or graphic design knowledge is a huge plus
    • Self-starter, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and basic accounting practices
    • Clear written communication and a friendly, professional manner
    • Knowledge of Hart County, or genuine willingness to learn it

    Why Join Us?

This job doesn't feel like a typical 9-to-5. Every day looks a little different, and you'll be in the middle of everything happening in Hart County before most people even hear about it. You'll meet business owners, civic leaders, and community members from every walk of life, and get a front-row seat to the events, projects, and stories that shape this town.

It's a relaxed, low-pressure atmosphere with real room to be creative. Our office is right in the heart of downtown Hartwell, just steps from local shops and restaurants. And there's a quieter reward to the work too: a real sense of pride in knowing you helped make it happen, whether that's a packed event, a thriving local business, or a town that feels a little more connected because of the work you did.
