• Leadership Hart Explores Industry and Economic Development

This month, the Leadership Hart class spent the day focused on one of the most important drivers of a strong community: industry and economic development.

Participants had the opportunity to go behind the scenes at two Hart County manufacturing facilities while engaging in meaningful conversations about how economic development decisions shape workforce, infrastructure, and overall quality of life.

The day began at Haering Precision, where the class toured the facility and heard from Andrew Carnes, Regional Manager with Georgia Power Economic Development, and Terri Partain, Economic Development Director with the Hart County Industrial Building Authority. Together, they shared insight into how economic development goes far beyond attracting businesses. Topics included workforce readiness, infrastructure planning, tax base growth, and the collaboration required between public and private partners to support long-term success.

Many participants were surprised to learn that Georgia Power’s role extends well beyond providing electricity. Through its economic development efforts, the company works alongside communities across the state to help them thrive and has been instrumental in positioning Georgia as the number one place to do business.

Following lunch at Haering Precision, the class traveled to Ritz Instrument Transformers for an up-close look at advanced manufacturing taking place right here in Hart County. Touring the facility gave participants a deeper understanding of how local industry supports jobs, strengthens the economy, and contributes to the community’s overall stability.

Economic development is a key topic within Leadership Hart because informed leaders make better decisions. By understanding how industry, government, education, and infrastructure intersect, participants gain the knowledge needed to support economic vitality and help create a higher quality of life for those who live and work in our community.

The Chamber is grateful to Haering Precision, Ritz Instrument Transformers, Georgia Power Economic Development, and the Hart County Industrial Building Authority for opening their doors and sharing their expertise. Their partnership helps ensure Leadership Hart participants leave with real-world insight into the forces shaping Hart County today and into the future.
