Georgia Power Donation Brings FLEX Student Entrepreneurship Program to Hart County
February 09, 2026
The Hart County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce a recent investment from Georgia Power that will fully fund the first year of the Georgia Foundational Leadership and Entrepreneurial X-Perience (FLEX) Program at the Hart County College & Career Academy. The contribution was presented earlier this month by Kevin McCraney, area manager for Georgia Power, to Chamber President Amanda Brown. Georgia Power’s support ensures the program’s inaugural year can focus entirely on implementation, student participation, and mentorship rather than fundraising or sponsor recruitment.
The Georgia FLEX Program is a statewide initiative that brings together school systems, community partners, and local business leaders to help high school students start and operate real businesses. Students develop business ideas, receive seed funding, sell products or services to real customers, and participate in pitch-style competitions, gaining hands-on experience in entrepreneurship while still in school.
Communities across Georgia have adopted FLEX as a way to connect students with local mentors and introduce business ownership as a viable path early in life. Through these partnerships, chambers play a key role in guiding students, providing resources, and strengthening ties between education and the local business community.
In addition to funding FLEX, Georgia Power also provided additional support for the Chamber to purchase professional equipment to outfit a new in-office studio. The studio will give local business owners access to a space for producing promotional video content, support the Chamber’s planned on-demand learning programs for members, and enhance tourism and event marketing through professional-grade media production.
“This investment allows us to expand opportunities for students while also strengthening the resources we offer to our business community,” Brown said. “Georgia Power’s support helps us create meaningful experiences that encourage creativity, confidence, and entrepreneurship in Hart County.”
The Hart County Chamber of Commerce expressed appreciation to Georgia Power for its continued commitment to education, innovation, and community growth. You can find out more about FLEX at georgiaflex.org/.
