MedLink Georgia Celebrates 50 Years of Quality Healthcare for All

Colbert, GA — MedLink Georgia is celebrating a major milestone in 2026, marking 50 years of providing quality, accessible healthcare to communities across Northeast Georgia. 

Founded in 1976 as the Oglethorpe Primary Health Care Center under a rural health initiative program, MedLink began with a small but determined team of just three staff members. A secretary, a nurse practitioner, and a licensed practical nurse came together with one clear purpose: bringing essential healthcare to people who needed it most. 

Today, MedLink Georgia serves more than 70,000 patients each year through a network of more than 30 locations across Northeast Georgia. Services include 12 healthcare specialties, 8 pharmacies, 4 large health campuses, and 5 school-based health centers. While the organization has grown significantly, its mission has remained the same. 

“If we’re remembered for anything, let it be that we made quality care accessible to every person who needed it,” said Dave Ward, CEO of MedLink Georgia. 

Over the decades, MedLink has steadily expanded its reach and services in response to community needs. In addition to primary care, MedLink expanded services to include pediatrics, pharmacy, behavioral health, women’s health, podiatry, occupational health, diabetes and nutrition, addiction recovery, imaging, and dental care. 

“As we celebrate 50 years, we remain committed to providing affordable, patient focused healthcare that supports the health and strength of our communities,” Ward said. “The work is not finished.” 

The 50th anniversary is both a moment to reflect and a renewed commitment to the future.
